World Cup started today! May the world come together through soccer.

Too bad I don't have ESPN, or I'd be watching a lot of the games.

USA gets a HUGE break when Ghana beat Czech Republic on Saturday.

Then the referees were LOUSY for the USA vs Italy game.  Crazy.

Now the big games are Thursday -- USA must beat Ghana AND Italy beat Czech for the US to go to next round.

Not that it's a huge difference, whoever gets second in Bracket E wins the pleasure of loosing to Brazil!

Ok, Ok......

So the Italy vs. Germany semi-final game was today.  Germany dominated during regular play but shut down in over-time.  Italy wins.
Now we just have tomorrow's game: Portugal vs. France  to determine which two team are playing for "The CUP" (as Olyvia Dowell would say)  Wink

It has been fun to watch....but like Johnna, I don't have cable so I'm stuck watching it in Spanish.....!Vamos Portugal! (for all those non-spanish watching futbal fans that means, Go Portugal!)  Grin

Italy!!!!  Yahoo!  Good game.  Beating France in a Shoot-out!  I am so glad that they won, since France's captain was an ass by head-butting one of the Italian players in the chest. (and not for a really good reason)  Back in your face Zidane!  Though I am disapointed that they still ended up giving Zidane the FIFA golden ball. argg.

We left for the Canyon trip not knowing who the final four teams were ...

At the midway point, one of the guides found out from the main office that it was France, Italy, Portugal and Germany in the final four.

I heard nothing more about the cup until I got to spain -- 10 days later!!!

Glad that Italy won -- but somewhat shocked!  I really thought Portugal and Germany were better than Italy and France.  And to think that the US tied Italy in bracket play!
